[Decoded] Anxiety isn’t always anxiety - what your Human Design reveals about it

BUSINESS / CAREER / RELATIONSHIPS / PARENTING

Hey Reader,

IYKYK... You’re not even sure what you’re anxious about.

But your brain won’t stop.

You’re running through scenarios.
Replaying conversations.
Trying to get ahead of something that hasn’t even happened yet.

And no matter how much you think it through… you don’t feel better.

So you assume it’s anxiety.
Something to calm down.
Something to fix.

But what if that’s not actually what’s going on?

What if this isn’t anxiety in the way you’ve been told?

What if it’s not something to get rid of… but something your system is designed to do?

When I looked at my own Human Design chart through this lens...

A few things clicked immediately.

I have what’s called a Fear motivation.

Which sounds intense, but it’s not what you think.

It doesn’t mean I’m meant to feel anxious all the time. It means I’m designed to anticipate what could go wrong.

To scan ahead.
To notice risks.
To prepare.

At its best, it’s sharp. Strategic. Grounded.

But here’s the part that changed everything for me.

When that energy has nowhere to go… it turns inward.

And that’s when it starts to feel like anxiety.

Because I’m not just wired with Fear motivation.

I’m also a Manifesting Generator with Sacral Authority.

Which means I’m not designed to sit around and mentally figure things out.

I’m designed to respond.

To let my body lead.
To move when something is a clear yes.

But when I’m not in response, when I’m trying to get ahead of life, predict outcomes, or make decisions from my head…

That awareness has nowhere to land.

So it loops.

Overthinking.
Second guessing.
Trying to solve things that aren’t ready to be solved.

And then there’s the mind.

In my chart, the Head and Ajna are open.

Which means I’m constantly taking in questions, pressure, and ideas from the world around me.

Not all of them are mine.

But without realising it, I can try to answer all of them.

To resolve everything.
To make sense of it all.

And that creates a kind of low-level, constant mental pressure that feels a lot like anxiety.

Layer in a 3/5 profile…

Learning through trial and error. Being seen as someone who should have the answers.

And suddenly there’s pressure to figure things out quickly.
To get it right.
To not get it wrong in a visible way.

So when I zoom out, what I used to call anxiety looks very different.

It’s not random.

It’s:

  • Awareness without direction
  • Mental pressure without a filter
  • Energy trying to move without something to respond to

And that changes how I meet it.

Because I’m not trying to get rid of it anymore.

I’m asking a different question.

What is this trying to do?

For me, it’s usually one of two things.

I’m trying to figure something out that hasn’t actually asked me for a decision yet.

Or

I’m holding onto questions that were never mine to answer in the first place.

So now, when that familiar spiral starts, I pause.

What am I trying to figure out right now?

And then…

Has anything actually asked me to decide this yet?

Most of the time, the answer is no.

And just seeing that is enough to take the pressure off.

There isn’t one version of anxiety.

There are patterns.

And when you start to see your own pattern, something shifts.

You stop fighting yourself.

You stop trying to fix something that isn’t broken.

And you start working with how you’re actually designed.

This is the work I do with my clients. Not to calm them down. But to help them understand what’s really going on underneath it all.

Because when you can see it clearly…

It changes everything.

Kindest,

Cat

by Cat Skreiner Decoded: Musings on Human Design for living your BEST life BUSINESS / CAREER / RELATIONSHIPS / PARENTING Hey Reader, I have a defined Ajna. Which means my mind doesn't just like certainty - it needs it. Not in a rigid, controlling way. More like... hand me a messy situation and I'll instinctively start pulling it apart, finding the logic, and rebuilding it into something that actually makes sense. Patterns. Frameworks. Processes. Clean, elegant structure. Honestly? That's my...
